A multi-colored map of the geological foundation of Galicia (the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria) prepared from official data for the 1873 Encyclopedia of Agriculture by the social economist Karol Langie, who was trained in Przemyśl and Lwów for a career which flourished in Kraków. The map uses colors and patterns to distinguish more than 20 different geological formations under the soil of Galicia, from granite and dolomite through the periods of the geological eras recognized during the time in which the map was created. A number of key cities and roads are indicated for geographic reference. Original copy of this map preserved by the National Library of Russia in Saint Petersburg; digital copy sourced by Ben and Elvira Kahane.
