A multicolor general plan and street map of Wieliczka (Groß Salze, Wielka Sól), famous for its salt mine which has been in operation since the 13th century. The map was produced in German language in 1944 under the World War II military occupation. Labeled as a Special Issue A not for public use, this map presents as an ordinary street map with individual buildings depicted along with the complex rail system which served the salt mine. Major and minor streets are labeled, mostly with original Polish names, but significant buildings (colored black) are labeled with German names and descriptions. This historic paper map is preserved by the Polish National Library and digitized by Polona.
