A monochrome annotated drawing of the fortified center of Lemberg (Lwów, Львів, Lviv, Lwow, Lvov, לעמבערג) sketched by the French colonel Jean Berenz and published by Guillaume Gottlob Sommer in Leipzig in 1774 as part of a historical series on Stanisław Jan Jabłonowski, a general of the Polish royal army who defended Lwów against Tatars in 1695. The map, which shows the walled town and its mountain fortress following improvements around the end of the 17th century, includes 20 lettered features of military, civil, and religious significance, among them a synagogue at H, numerous churches and convents, four key gates, and two arsenals. This historic paper map is preserved by the Polish National Library and digitized by Polona.
