A general plan in full color of the town and environs of Brody (Brod, Броди, ברודי), drawn by Louis de Jann circa 1775-1778 during the first decade of the Kingdom of Galicia. The map features a detailed rendition of the dense architecture of the market square, town center, and fortress, plus an impressionistic depiction of suburban areas and distant farm fields and forests. Annotations in French, German, and Polish highlight eight significant urban features keyed to an index (including the town's large main synagogue), and further out, major roads and canals. The town's military importance is evident in many labeled features. This historic paper map is preserved and digitized by the Austrian State Archive; digital copy sourced by Andrew Zalewski.
