A full-color map of the spa town of Krynica (Krynica-Zdrój, Криниця, Krenitz, קרעניץ) in the Beskids southeast of Nowy Sącz, surveyed and lithographed in 1846. This is a final-state cadastral map showing building and land parcel numbers, with later redline revisions to roads and stream banks. The survey captured the spa just before its rapid development began ten years later under the influence of Józef Dietl, a respected medical professor and pioneer of balneology in Galicia. The map shows the first ("Stary") spa house; now many more line the stream and tap into underground springs. Redline revisions show the first traces of Jewish presence: a new cemetery southwest of the bathhouse. This historic paper map is preserved by the Archiwum Narodowe w Krakowie.
